Chasing Dreams

Skirball Cultural Center - Chasing Dreams
Los Angeles, CA • opened 2016
Developed with Picnic Design

Chasing Dreams celebrates baseball and highlights the role of important figures in the history of the game. For generations of American Jews and other minorities, these people served as athletic, cultural, and ethical role models. It highlights the ways in which baseball is part of the history, and ongoing story, of how immigrants and other minority communities become American.

Beginning with the Civil War era and continuing to the present day, the exhibition addresses the question of why so many immigrant groups and minority communities have identified with, taken pride in, and felt connected to the nation’s pastime. The exhibit explores how baseball has served as an arena in which values, identity, ethnicity, and race have been projected, contested, and occasionally solidified.

Red Cape Studio was hired to adapt the design of the traveling exhibit to the Miliken Gallery space.
