San Elijo Nature Center
Making the Grade
San Deigo, CA • opened 2014

The Nature Center features exhibits interpreting the natural and cultural resources of the San Elijo Lagoon as well as the 'green' design features of the building that achieved LEED Gold certification.

Each of the elements within the design (building, landscape, exhibits) is used as a teaching tool. The qualities of the space and materiality of the built elements express the message of sustainability.

The content delivered throughout the exhibit experience provides a more detailed perspective about the role that humans play in the ecosystem in which the building sits and our impact upon that environment.

Developed with Think Jacobson & Roth. Red Cape Studio was hired to design the physical layout, structures and interactive elements for the exhibition.
